ETEEAP Your Ticket To Earn a College Degree

Are you still aiming of achieving a College Degree?and you are thinking that it will be difficult for you, because you are now working, or it seems impossible for you to do this anymore. Think again!!!

As an Education student, i wanted to share this information about this ETEEAP Program of the CHED or Commission on Higher Education. ETEEAP stands for Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program from EXECUTIVE ORDER 330 Released by former President Fidel V. Ramos way back 1996.This is in line with Section 1, Article XIV of the 1987 Constitution,that the State shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels and shall take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all;

The Program recognizes skills, knowledge, and prior learning attained by an individual. Basically they will credit your work experiences to a course related to your field of employment.

My school, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines is one of the Higher Education Institution offering this program. I personally talked to one of the candidate assessors and asked, What is this all about? As far as i remember , she replied.

“Not all the knowledge can be learned from the school.” Most of students are studying to work, and since you experience working we will assess your experiences if it is related to the course that you want to pursue, let say, you are salesman and handle money day by day, you probably have an accounting skills already. You will just need to submit proofs or documents from your employer.

To be honest i personally has the intention to apply for this program since i still worked even up to this day while studying and that is more than 17 years with different work experiences. The person i spoke with said it will be maximum of 2 years of study and could be shorter depending on the documents that you will submit.

But i still chose to take the formal education. Now why am i sharing this to you, Hey! we may have the same age bracket, and it is still possible to get your degree.According to the data i gathered, we have a total of 96 Institutions in the country that you can go to and avail the program. From 1999 to 2010,
7,240 successfully graduated.

Talk show host Boy Abunda is a Graduate of this Program with flying colors.

Joseph
